Description
The goal of this program is to recognize outstanding trajectories of early career faculty and aid in building strong portfolios for promotion and tenure.
The Agricultural Research Division (ARD) at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources invites nominations for “Recognition of Early Career Faculty for Excellence in Research” award. Early-career awards are important to recognize outstanding trajectories of early career faculty and aid in building strong portfolios for promotion and tenure. Similarly, early-career awards serve as important building blocks for regional and national awards later in a career.
Eligibility: At the time of nomination, the candidate shall have an ARD appointment as tenure-track Assistant Professor and have five years or less of professorial service at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Nomination Process: Any faculty member or administrator may nominate an eligible (see criteria below) faculty member.
The following supporting documents are required:
- Nomination letter from a faculty or an administrator.
- Nominee’s Curriculum vitae; the CV should not exceed 5 pages, and should include employment record,list of refereed publications, grants activity, service activities, and honors and distinctions.
- Three letters of support in addition to the letter of nomination with at least one letter from a personoutside of the nominee’s unit.
Evaluation of Nominees: A committee consisting of members of the ARD Advisory Council together with ARD Administration will evaluate nominations and recommend recipients.
The following criteria will be used in evaluating nominees:
- Publication record with more weight given to publications resulting from research conducted at UNL.
- Evidence of external funding activity.
- Professional service.
- Recognition by peers.
Form of Recognition:
It is anticipated that up to two junior faculty members with ARD appointments will be recognized each year. The recognition will include a certificate, recognition ceremony and a $3,000 grant for use by the faculty member(s) for professional development or research-related activities.
