Nebraska has four District Areas which are served by the following Research and Extension Centers.

  • Panhandle Research and Extension Center at Scottsbluff is located on the upper reaches of the Platte River. The Panhandle Research and Extension Center is in a unique position to study and evaluate important water issues. Water quantity and quality are high priority concerns for Nebraskans.
  • West Central Research and Extension Center is located at North Platte. Key areas of emphasis at this center are expected to include range-beef cattle management, cropping systems for irrigated and dryland production, and water quality and water use issues.
  • Northeast Research and Extension Center is located at Norfolk. Research at this center will increasingly address issues related to sustainability. Studies will integrate management science with biological science in efforts to sustain genetic and biotechnical gains.
  • Southeast Research and Extension Center at Lincoln is located on the University of Nebraska's East Campus. The primary mission of the center is to provide research-based education programs for people in southeast Nebraska. In addition, the center identifies research needs for the counties in the region, which includes Nebraska's two largest cities.
